Counseling Intern
Cassandra (Casey) Cowens is a counseling intern specializing in working with people from varied backgrounds, especially in the LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities. Her therapeutic strategy mostly consists of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) because she believes identifying unconstructive thoughts, acknowledging and then challenging them, is key to breaking the cycle of negative thought patterns and creating better self-worth.Â
Casey’s approach to her sessions is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and validating space to focus on learning and caring for you. She creates a warm environment by showing her clients compassion and empathy. Cultural humility is at the core of her practice, as she acknowledges and honors your unique cultural, gender, racial, and socioeconomic background.Â
Casey is currently working toward her M.A. in Clinical Counseling at Agnes Scott College. She is under the clinical supervision of Courtney Geter, LMFT-S, CST-S.Â
