3 Ways Sex Therapy Can Help
Sex therapy can help individuals and couples address difficulties and sexual problems, which are normal and common experiences. Therapy encourages healing for a better future by creating a non-judgmental space for clients to talk openly about concerns related to sexuality, intimacy, and relationships.

Therapists use thoughtful and compassionate approaches to help clients gain control over sexual difficulties, improve communication, and become more mindful in their relationships and sexual experiences.

Intimacy can often feel confusing or burdened by shame. Therapy fosters wonder and curiosity about one's place in the world and personal identity, supporting clients as they explore and understand themselves.

At Atlanta Therapeutic Collective, therapy is inclusive and affirming, especially for LGBTQ+ individuals seeking affirming mental health care, and uses trauma-informed approaches to ensure every person feels respected and supported.
1
Improve Sexual Satisfaction
&
Reduce Anxiety
Stress and anxiety are the number one factors of sexual issues and dissatisfaction, and sex therapy will teach various techniques to manage them. Sex therapy helps clients gain control over anxiety and sexual experiences, empowering them to address challenges like sexual anxiety and erectile dysfunction.

Sex therapy teaches the client to understand how stress triggers the fight or flight mode of the nervous system and the impact on sexual functioning. Being present in the moment is also emphasized, as mindful engagement can enhance sexual satisfaction and emotional awareness.
Improved communication is a key outcome of therapy, helping clients and their partners resolve conflicts and better manage anxiety and sexual issues. Sex therapy can also teach skills to manage anxiety so it no longer impacts sexual experience or functioning, ultimately helping clients to heal .
2
Improve Intimacy Issues
Intimacy issues are often a source or part of sexual and relationship dissatisfaction. Many people forget that intimacy is a key part of sex and relationship satisfaction. Therapy can help couples or partners better communicate both emotional and sexual needs in order to improve overall intimacy issues and strengthen their sex life.

A sex therapist can create a safe environment and non-judgmental space where partners feel comfortable to talk openly about their intimacy concerns. Compassion and improved communication are central to resolving intimacy issues, helping partners foster understanding and acceptance. Through therapy, couples can create stronger emotional bonds and deepen their intimacy.
3
Reduce Sexual Issues
Sex therapy has been shown to reduce or eliminate sexual issues including sexual pain disorders, erectile dysfunction, sexual desire differences, and much more. Sexual difficulties and sexual problems are normal and can be addressed through therapy in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. Therapy supports healing from these difficulties by helping clients learn about their concerns and find techniques to try at home with or without partners to improve sexual satisfaction and experiences.
