3 ways sex therapy can help
1
Improve Sexual Satisfaction and Reduce Anxiety
Stress and anxiety are the number one factors of sexual issues and dissatisfaction, and sex therapy will teach various techniques to manage them. Sex therapy teaches the client to understand how stress triggers the fight or flight mode of the nervous system and the impact on sexual functioning. Sex therapy can also teach skills to manage anxiety so it no longer impacts sexual experience or functioning, ultimately helping clients to heal .
2
Improve Intimacy Issues
Intimacy issues are often a source or part of sexual and relationship dissatisfaction. Many people forget that intimacy is a key part of sex and relationship satisfaction. Therapy can help couples or partners better communicate both emotional and sexual needs in order to improve over all intimacy issues and strengthen their sex life.
3
Reduce Sexual Issues
Sex therapy has been shown to reduce or eliminate sexual issues including sexual pain disorders, erectile dysfunction, sexual desire differences and much more. Sex therapy allows clients to learn about these sexual concerns and find techniques to try at home with or without partners to improve sexual satisfaction and experiences.
How to get started
Finding the right therapist can be tedious and time consuming. To alleviate this stress, ATC offers a new client intake session where you meet with an intake therapist who will discover your needs for therapy and suggest providers that meet your preferred criteria or preferences.

To schedule your new client intake session, simply call or email us, and one of our dedicated admin team members will get back to you within 12-24 business hours, showing their ability to assist you promptly.
How we stand out
Your time is important and we want to ensure your start to therapy is as stress free as possible, creating a positive experience from the beginning. Here are ways we aim to improve your experience and expectations:

New Client Intake Sessions
Not sure which therapist is a best fit for addressing your specific concerns? Not sure if sex therapy is what you need? At ATC, we created a process to streamline starting therapy with us.

Our new patient intake session is a 25 minute virtual session where you meet with a trained intake therapist who will review all paper work, answer questions about the practice, gather information to get your sessions started, and discuss provider who will be a fit for you.

What does a sex therapist actually do?Sex therapy is a form of talk therapy that provides education and counseling on sex, sexual development, and sexuality as well as offers suggestions to improve sexual experience and satisfaction. For example, sex therapy helps partners discuss their sexual concerns and perspectives in a safe environment or allows individuals to explore their sexual desires or sexual problems without shame or judgement.
-
How do I know if I need a sex therapist? If you are experiencing sexual problems or intimacy issues and nothing you've tried at home as resolved the concerns, it might be time to schedule an appointment to further explore the source of the challenges and find solutions. Other reasons to try sex therapy is dissatisfaction in your marriage or relationships that continue to increase instead of improve. Some clients have found sex therapy helpful to talk out sexual desires and fantasies in supportive and positive environment.

What therapy is best for sex?Although many modalities work with sexual issues, our therapists commonly use PLISSIT model, solution focused models, narrative therapy, and attachment theory as well as EMDR and Internal Family Systems for trauma.
