Lamees Aisami

The perceptions we hold of ourselves, our relationships, and our experiences often get stuck in our minds and in our bodies. Therapy offers a unique perspective and a safe place to help you sort out and shift what’s keeping you stuck.

I invite all parts of you to be seen and nurtured with warmth and empathy. The work of healing is difficult and brave. Together, we will explore the ways you feel stuck with curiosity and compassion.

I utilize an integrative and systemic therapeutic approach where I focus on deep listening and thoughtful questions to support you in moving through shame, guilt, anxiety, grief, hopelessness, heartbreak, and dissociation. In our work together, we will take inventory of the stories and systems around and within you and reimagine what’s possible.

I am interested in working with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents who are feeling disconnected from themselves, their relationships, and their purpose. Some of my areas of interest include working with couples and families to strengthen communication and deepen connection and working with adolescents struggling to make sense of their social and emotional world. I am familiar with navigating transitions (spiritual, professional, personal, etc.), along with trauma and grief in their many forms.

I believe in liberation for all parts of our stories and in all intersections of existence. I am LGBTQ+ affirming, a committed ally of Black and Indigenous People, celebratory of all spiritual paths, and an advocate for body acceptance. I utilize a multicultural lens, always working to dismantle biases within myself and doing my own healing work as part of my commitment of safety and care to you.

I myself am a “third culture” individual, having been raised by Syrian immigrants in the American South and bringing this identity into the room with us.

There is space for you here in all the complexities of your season of life, your story, your identity, and your relationships. You are worthy of care and it is my honor to walk alongside you.

I am a graduate student at Northcentral University working to complete my degree in Marriage & Family Therapy. My clinical work is supervised by Courtney Geter, LMFT, CST. I also have a Master’s degree in the Social Foundations of Education from Georgia State University, an undergraduate degree in Middle Grades Education from Georgia College, and a background in the field of Education where I have been a public school teacher and a policy advocate.

Lamees will begin seeing clients on June 28, 2021.
